Wall paint for the colorblind by Restoration Hardware
A good coat of wall paint will probably do more for selling your home than any other home improvement project you can undertake. The wrong paint can also turn offer home seekers just as quickly.
Upon recently entering a local Atlanta home, the owner had opted to paint his living room, dining room and even the fireplace mantel a striking shade of Guldens mustard yellow. This is not the sunshine color but the brownish yellow that only looks attractive on your lunch.
Restoration Hardware has managed to come up with a line of wall paint that seems specifically designed for the colorblind and fashion impaired. Since 10% of the male population is colorblind and 83 are fashion impaired, their line of paint goes along way towards eliminating countless hours spent staring at swatches.
For starters, Restoration Hardware only offers a small selection of paint, maybe a dozen at most. Their pallet covers currently popular shades of gray and kaki colors that seem to be particularly popular in new construction homes.
Each color works extremely well with all of the other colors so by simply sticking with their paint, you can maintain a consistent flow from room to room. The colors are neutral enough that potential buyers will like what they see and not serve as a distraction when entering a room. While you may absolutely love having your dining room painted a blood red color, a potential buyer may shun the idea and find it a turn off.
At $28 a gall, the paint is a bit pricey but it goes on well, is water based and all of their paints have a subtle velvet finish. No more having to decide which level of gloss you want since they are all the same. The Atlanta Restoration Hardware has also painted their showroom from these colors, which provide for a nice showcase.
One final note, while their website shows off some of their paints, computer monitors do not accurately display the colors. In fact, they don’t looking anything like the colors in the store or how they will appear on your walls.
So, save yourself the time an agony of choosing the wrong paint and pay them a visit.
Now if there was just something we could do about your mullet…..
