DOT hosts public information open houses

The Georgia Department of Transportation (GDOT) will hold a public information open house on Revive 285-Top End, Tuesday, Dec. 12, from 4 to 7 p.m., at Cobb Galleria Centre, Two Galleria Pkwy, Atlanta. The open house will provide information on the project and allow you to ask questions, express your input on issues concerning the corridor and interact with project team members.

GDOT is hosting a public information open house, Thursday, Dec. 14, about proposed improvements to state route 360/Macland Road, from state route 120 in Paulding County to state route 176/New Macland Road in Cobb County. The meeting will be at Trinity Chapel Church, 4665 Macland Rd., Powder Springs, from 5 to 8 p.m. You will be able to view the project corridor and possible improvements, ask questions and make suggestions. Cobb County Water Program Receives Achievement Award

(Marietta, Ga. – August 10, 2006) - The Cobb County Water System has received a 2006 Achievement Award from the National Association of Counties (NACo) for its Water Efficiency Program. The Water Efficiency Program was launched in March 2005 to assist Cobb County’s customers with saving water and lowering their water bills. The program offers county residents a variety of programs and materials to help lower water consumption.

Costco comes to Vinings and Cumberland Mall.

A zoning hearing was set in December to allow for the construction of a Costco next to the J.C. Penny’s at Cumberland Mall. As renovation continues on Cumberland Mall, adding a highend retail outlet will most likely only enhance the area drawing in a more affluent shopper.  The combination of the new Cobb Energy Centre for the Performing Arts and the renovation has already impacted home prices in the area.  Demand for homes in Vinings and the Cumberland Mall area continues to rise as more and more home buyers discover the Northwest corner of Atlanta.

While searching the web for new communities I came across an HOA website for a Vinings community that has been promoting their community as being built by a homebuilder that was ranked #1 one by J.D. Power & Associates.

Being somewhat ignorant, I knew J.D. Power & Associates ranked cars and computers but I was surprised that this J.D. even ranked homebuilders. But they do and the information they gather was quite informative.

The study is based on customer satisfaction after they purchased their new home and rankings are evaluated based on builder’s warranty/customer service; home readiness; builder’s sales staff; construction manager; quality of workmanship/materials; price/value; physical design elements; builder’s design center; recreational facilities; and location.
